Rampant Timber Smuggling in Doda Forest Division Sparks Public Outcry

Diplomat Correspondent

Doda, (DD) Allegations of large-scale timber smuggling in the Forest Division Doda have sparked widespread concern among locals and environmental activists in the Chenab Valley region. Eyewitnesses and local sources claim that valuable green cover, often referred to as the “Sabz Sona” (Green Gold), is being looted openly — with no visible intervention from authorities.

An exclusive video report by Diplomat Digital has brought the issue into the spotlight, showing visuals of felled trees and abandoned logs deep inside forested areas. The report questions the accountability of the forest department and other enforcement agencies, accusing them of turning a blind eye to the ongoing destruction.

The viral video poses a powerful question: “Jungle mein mor nacha, kisne dekha? Lekin jungle ka loot – kisne roka?” (Who saw the peacock dance in the forest? But who stopped the looting of the forest?)

Locals are now urging the administration to intervene before irreversible damage is done to the fragile ecological balance of the region. Environmentalists warn that such unregulated deforestation could lead to landslides, loss of biodiversity, and water scarcity in the coming years.(DD)
