Kishtwar Police Holds Awareness Drive on Drug Abuse and Cyber Threats

Diplomat Correspondent

Kishtwar, (DD):In a proactive initiative to safeguard youth from the rising dangers of drug abuse and cybercrime, the Kishtwar Police organised a comprehensive “Drugs and Cyber Awareness Programme” at the District Police Office (DPO), Kishtwar.

The programme began with a strong focus on drug awareness. DySP Headquarters Dr Ishan Gupta (JKPS) delivered an insightful presentation detailing the devastating impact of narcotics on individuals, families, and society. He spoke extensively on the legal, social, and health consequences of substance abuse and highlighted police strategies aimed at curbing the menace.

Further strengthening the session, SHO PS Kishtwar, Insp. Firdous Ahmed, shared real-life drug abuse cases from the district, illustrating how narcotics have led to personal tragedy and community destabilisation. He called for joint efforts by communities, families, and enforcement agencies to prevent youth from falling into the trap of drugs.

The second segment of the event focused on cybercrime awareness. PSI Moin Khan delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation explaining prevalent online threats such as cyberbullying, phishing, online grooming, sextortion, and child exploitation. He educated attendees on prevention, safety practices, and the importance of timely reporting of suspicious activities to law enforcement.

In a show of encouragement and appreciation, SSP Kishtwar Shri Naresh Singh (JKPS) felicitated a group of socially active youth with “Drug Awareness Yodha” Certificates of Participation. The following individuals were honoured for their contribution to anti-drug awareness campaigns:

Khushboo Nadiya Butt, Anurag Sharma, Fazan Mahboob, Salma Layaqat, Abroo Wajid, Abid Hussain, Vishal Thakur, Rubba Jaan, Menakshi Devi, Sabiya Banoo Reshi, Rahul Ji, Bodh Raj, Mohit Kumar, Shivani Devi, and Anu Kumari.

Their efforts in mobilising community support, raising awareness, and assisting affected families were recognised as essential in the ongoing fight against drug addiction in Kishtwar.

The event was attended by SDPO Marwah Sh. Vijay Bhagat (JKPS), SHO Insp. Firdous Ahmed, school staff, police officers, and civil society members—demonstrating a united front in building a safer, drug-free, and digitally secure future for the youth of Kishtwar(DD)
