District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Leh, Conducts Successful 5-Day Mushroom Cultivation Training in Nubra Valley Leh.

Leh ,DD:The District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Leh, under the aegis of Mission Shakti, successfully conducted a 5-day training program on mushroom cultivation across various villages in Nubra Valley from 16th June to 20th June 2025. The initiative aimed to empower women by equipping them with sustainable agricultural skills to enhance their livelihoods and promote economic independence.

The training was led by Ms. Sonam Angmo, an esteemed agri-biotechnologist, who served as the resource person. She provided hands-on guidance and shared expertise on mushroom cultivation techniques, emphasizing their potential as a low-investment, high-return venture suitable for the region’s unique climatic conditions.

Women from the villages of Turtuk, Tyakshi, Chulunka, Tongsted, Henachey,Charasa, Sumoor, Tsati, Khaltasr, Diskit, Hunder, and Partapur actively participated in the program. The training covered key aspects of mushroom production, including substrate management, and harvesting techniques, tailored to empower participants with practical knowledge for income generation.After the training,mushroom spawn were distributed among the participants for trial basis use.This initiative aligns with Mission Shakti’s goal of fostering women-led development by providing skill-based training to promote financial self-reliance and sustainable practices.
