Kishtwar,DD, In a significant public outreach initiative, Additional Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Pardeep Singh-JKPS along with SDPO Marwah, Vijay Bhagat, conducted a comprehensive three-day tour of the far-flung Marwah and Warwan areas of District Kishtwar.
During the visit, Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings were held at multiple locations, wherein the officers interacted with a large number of locals and listened to their long-standing grievances. The public raised several key issues, with major demands including: Electricity supply: Residents expressed deep concern that even after 78 years of independence, villages in Marwah and Warwan continue to remain without electricity, highlighting decades of infrastructural neglect.
Road connectivity: Locals demanded all-weather roads and proper maintenance of existing routes, particularly the Margan Top road, which remains closed during winter months and cuts off the region.
Telecommunication facilities: Despite the installation of mobile towers, network signals remain poor, and no internet connectivity is available in most areas. The public requested the administration to ensure reliable and fast communication services.
Helicopter service: People demanded that chopper services, which are occasionally provided in winter, be made available throughout the year for emergencies and connectivity.
Additional SP Pardeep Singh-JKPS assured the public that their genuine issues will be projected before the concerned departments for appropriate and time-bound redressal. He reiterated the commitment of the police department to act as a bridge between the government and the people of remote areas.
