Srinagar,(DD)In a swift response to a potentially sensitive incident, Srinagar Police on today removed graffiti resembling a foreign flag (Israel) that had been painted on the road outside the main entrance of Imambara Zadibal in the old city.

The act, reported to Police Station Zadibal, prompted immediate action from a police team that rushed to the site and ensured prompt removal of the graffiti to prevent any disturbance to communal harmony and public order.

During a preliminary investigation, police identified the involvement of three local teenage girls, all students residing in the vicinity. Their identities have been withheld due to their minor status.

In view of their age and the nature of the incident, police said the minors were counselled in the presence of their parents and made aware of the implications of their actions, particularly the importance of promoting peace and respecting communal sentiments.

“The juveniles were sensitised about responsible civic behaviour and the importance of maintaining communal harmony,” a police official said.

Police have stated that legal action will follow under provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, ensuring due process in accordance with the law.

The Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to preserving peace, law and order, and urged citizens—especially youth—to exercise restraint and responsibility in all forms of expression(DD)
