The action was taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of an intensified crackdown on drug traffickers.

According to a police statement the attached asset includes a two-storey house along with surrounding land. Authorities have confirmed that the property was acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trafficking.

Bhat is involved in FIR No. 02/2024 under Sections 8, 20, and 29 of the NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Sangam. He is currently under preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act.
