Rajouri, (DD): A sudden flash flood triggered by heavy rainfall claimed the lives of two children in the Sialsui area of Kalakote tehsil in Rajouri district early today morning. A third child was rescued by locals in a swift response.
According to officials, the children were near a stream when the flash flood hit. “Two children died on the spot after being swept away. Fortunately, the third was rescued by local residents and shifted to a nearby medical facility,” an official said.
Rescue teams, supported by police and volunteers, responded promptly to the incident. The administration is extending assistance to the affected families and assessing the situation to prevent further risks.
Authorities have issued an advisory urging residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas to remain vigilant and avoid venturing near water bodies during the ongoing rainy spell(DD)
