Jammu:DD, Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, Nowabad Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered heroin like substance from his possession.
Police said that while performing routing naka duty near Puran Nagar, the police team signalled a vehicle to stop for checking. However, the driver of the vehicle tried to flee away, police added.
Acting swiftly, the police team somehow stopped the vehicle bearing registration number JK20B – 7053 driven by a person namely Hashim Ali, resident of Belicharana.
During the searches, police said that they recovered approximately 5.88 grams of heroin-like substance from under the driver’s seat.
Accordingly, the driver was taken into custody and he was booked in a case under FIR number 92/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act instantly got registered at PS Nowabad.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source and network behind the illegal drug trade. More arrests and recoveries cannot be ruled out.
