CEC Kargil Reviews Ashura Preparations, Emphasises Medical Readiness, Sanitation, and Public Safety

Kargil, DD, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today visited Kargil town and conducted an extensive assessment of the preparations for the upcoming Ashura processions in Kargil town.

Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shree Ram R, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Imteeaz Kacho and other district officials, Dr. Akhoon visited various medical camps established at key locations including Omni Van Stand, Islamia School Kargil, Old Taxi Stand, Hussaini Park, and Qatilgah Hussaini.

The CEC emphasized the necessity of ensuring all medical facilities are adequately equipped with essential medicines, sufficient bedding, and other medical necessities. He also directed that deployment of an adequate number of health professionals must be ensured.

Highlighting the importance of sanitation, Dr. Akhoon instructed the concerned department to ensure proper disposal of wastes including biomedical waste at the medical camps.

During his visit to the blood donation camp at Old Taxi Stand, he stressed the need for proper registration of blood donors and efficient collection of blood units.

To enhance the comfort of participants, the CEC proposed the installation of water sprinklers along the Ashura procession route. He directed officials to identify suitable locations for both machine-operated and manual sprinklers.

Furthermore, Dr. Akhoon instructed the Municipal Committee Kargil to maintain cleanliness in public washrooms, particularly at Hussaini Park. He also suggested the Police Department to deploy additional personnel at Qatlgah Hussaini Medical Camp to ensure its smooth functioning.

In interactions with representatives from Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil and Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Kargil, Dr. Akhoon assured them of LAHDC and the District Administration’s commitment to providing all necessary facilities and support for the proper conduct of Ashura congregations.DD
