Srinagar, (DD)Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has said that Jammu and Kashmir is steadily progressing on the path of development and peace, undeterred by external efforts to create instability in the region.
Speaking at an event held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), the LG emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to building a secure and prosperous future for the Union Territory. He credited the security forces for ensuring peace and enabling significant socio-economic changes.
“Despite continuous attempts by Pakistan to disturb peace, Jammu and Kashmir continues to thrive. The situation has changed considerably over the last few years, especially since 2019,” Sinha said.
Highlighting tourism as a key indicator of positive change, the LG noted that around 24 million tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir by 2024—a figure far exceeding pre-2019 numbers. He said the revival of traditional tourist routes and promotion of new areas like adventure and border tourism have expanded the region’s appeal.
He also mentioned the role of digital tools and support from the Ministry of Tourism in connecting travellers with local destinations, thereby enhancing accessibility and visibility. Referring to the successful hosting of the G20 Tourism Working Group meetings, the LG said the event brought global attention to Jammu and Kashmir’s potential.
Sinha praised the people of the Union Territory for showing resilience in the face of challenges. “The response to recent incidents, like the Pahalgam terror attack, reflects the public’s clear rejec2tion of violence. People have united in demanding peace and progress,” he said.
He reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir’s bond with the rest of the country remains firm. “The sacrifices of the past will not go in vain. The people’s resolve is strong, and no force can derail this momentum,” the LG added.(DD)
