Srinagar, (DD): In a major action against the drug menace in the Kashmir Valley, Srinagar Police has attached property worth approximately ₹1 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The seized property, comprising a single-storeyed residential house and 17 marlas of land located in Lawaypora, Srinagar, is owned by Zubair Ahmad Sheikh, son of Late Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh. The accused is currently facing prosecution in FIR No. 39/2025 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Shalteng.
Police investigations have established that the property was acquired using proceeds from illegal narcotics trade, primarily targeting local youth and contributing to widespread drug addiction in the area.

Zubair Ahmad Sheikh is a habitual offender with a lengthy criminal history spanning multiple districts in Jammu and Kashmir. He has been implicated in several drug-related and criminal cases, including:

Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, police attached the property following a detailed investigation into Zubair’s assets and financial activities. The property has been frozen, and any sale, transfer, or alteration is now prohibited without prior authorization from the competent authority.

This development is part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s broader campaign to dismantle the economic infrastructure of drug networks operating across the Union Territory.
Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to uprooting drug abuse and trafficking and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
