Baramulla, DD, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Baramulla today to meet with families affected by terrorism and hand over appointment letters to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in militant violence. The visit is part of the Union Territory administration’s ongoing efforts to rehabilitate and support victims of conflict.

The interaction took place under the special employment package designed for terrorism-affected families, where eligible dependents are provided government jobs as a means of financial security and dignified livelihood.

The LG expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that no family impacted by terrorism is left alone in their time of need. “We are determined to bring healing, justice and opportunities for a better life to those who have suffered due to terrorism,” LG Sinha said during the event.

Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed decades of violence due to cross-border terrorism, with thousands of civilians falling victim to targeted attacks. In recent years, the administration has taken several steps to assist victim families—ranging from financial compensation, housing support, and now fast-tracked job appointments for dependents.

This outreach programme is in line with the government’s broader vision of providing justice and promoting social integration of affected families, particularly in regions like north Kashmir which have historically borne a heavy cost of conflict.

The initiative is also aimed at discouraging youth from falling into the trap of radicalisation by offering hope and opportunity through institutional support(DD)
