Srinagar, (DD): Former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
According to an official communique, Gupta’s appointment follows the resignation of Brigadier (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.), who stepped down from the post.
“The President of India has accepted the resignation of Brig. (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) as Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Ladakh. Kavinder Gupta has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor,” the statement reads.
Gupta, a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), previously served as Deputy Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and has held various key positions within the party’s state unit(DD)
