Akhnoor Police Station Declared Best in J&K by MHA; DGP Nalin Prabhat Presents Certificate of Excellence

Recognition part of national initiative evaluating over 17,000 police stations across India

Jammu, (DD) In a proud moment for the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Police Station Akhnoor has been adjudged the Best Police Station of J&K for the year 2024 by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

To commemorate this achievement, Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat, IPS, visited Police Station Akhnoor on Tuesday and formally presented the Certificate of Excellence to the team. He was accompanied by IGP Jammu Zone B.S. Tuti, IPS; IGP CRPF Jammu Gopala K. Rao, IPS; DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS; Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sachin Vaishya, IAS; and SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, JKPS.

MLA Akhnoor Lal Bhagat attended the event as a special guest. The ceremony was also witnessed by senior officers from the Army, BSF, CRPF, intelligence agencies, civil administration, as well as zonal SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs from across the Jammu Rural Zone.

This national-level recognition is part of a flagship initiative launched in 2015 by the Prime Minister during the DGP/IGP Conference in Kutch, Gujarat. Implemented by the Police Modernisation Division of the MHA, in collaboration with the TransRural research agency, the initiative evaluates police stations based on parameters such as community engagement, investigation efficiency, crime control, and public satisfaction.

In the latest assessment, 17,932 police stations across India were evaluated, with 76 shortlisted for final ranking. Police Station Akhnoor emerged among the top-performing stations in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, DGP Nalin Prabhat congratulated the Jammu Police team for the prestigious recognition and praised their consistent public service. He specially commended the leadership and performance of then SHO Tariq Ahmed, SDPO Mohan Sharma, SP Rural Brijesh Sharma (JKPS), and SSP Jammu Joginder Singh (JKPS) during the assessment year. He also extended best wishes to the current SHO Sanjeev Chib and SDPO Varinder Gupta, encouraging them to uphold the high standards set by their predecessors.

IGP Jammu Zone B.S. Tuti also appreciated the efforts of the Akhnoor police team and urged them to continue prioritizing citizen-friendly policing and professional excellence.

The award is a testament to the discipline, leadership, and community-focused approach adopted by Police Station Akhnoor under the guidance of Jammu Police leadership(DD)
