CEC Kargil Visits TSG Block, address various developmental issues
Kargil, July 28, 2025 – Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, inaugurated multiple developmental projects at the TSG Block.
He also conducted an extensive tour of the area and met various public delegations to address their concerns.
The CEC was accompanied by Executive Councillors Zakir Hussain, Mohammad Feroz, and Agha Syed Mujtaba; Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho; Councillors Syed Ali Mosavi and Sajjad Khan; Superintending Engineer R&B, Skalzang Dorjey; Executive Engineer PHE & IFC, Mohammad Hassan Lone; Executive Engineer SVD Sankoo, Syed Mehdi, along with other sectoral heads and district officers.
During his visit, Dr. Jaffer Akhoon inaugurated the construction and upgradation of an additional room at the NTPHC Tambis, which was developed under the District CAPEX Budget at an estimated cost of ₹70 lakh and executed by the R&B Division Sankoo.
He also inaugurated the newly constructed building of the Government Middle School Goma Tambis, built under the District CAPEX Budget at an estimated cost of ₹198.84 lakh, as well as the new building of the Government Middle School Lungma Trespone, constructed at a cost of ₹157.10 lakh, both executed by the R&B Division Sankoo.
CEC Kargil congratulated the people of the TSG Block on this auspicious occasion and said that these developmental activities will bring great convenience to the public.
He appreciated the quality of work carried out by the executing agencies and especially lauded the efforts of Executive Engineer SVD Sankoo, Agha Syed Mehdi, for his sincerity, dedication, and integrity in executing these works with utmost honesty.
During his interaction with the public at Tambis, various delegations submitted demands that included the upgradation of the local high school, conversion of the NTPHC into a PHC, shortage of doctors, maintenance of link roads, renovation and boundary wall of the school ground, dismantling of the old school building, construction of a multi-purpose hall, public library, and other facilities.
The CEC gave a patient hearing and responded that a proposal for the high school upgrade will be sent to the UT Ladakh Administration under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. Regarding the macadamisation of link roads, he informed that funds have already been allocated under the SDP state sector, and the report has been forwarded to the higher authorities for approval.
For the renovation and construction of a compound wall around the school ground, he assured that provisions will be made in the next financial year. Other issues raised by the public would be addressed in a phased and priority-based manner.
At Kanoor, CEC Kargil was informed by the locals about various issues including upgradation of sub center, functioning of irrigation lift scheme, measures to develop Agri Enterpreneurship, and various other issues. CEC Kargil directed the concerned officer to look into the possibilities of making the lift canal functional and expressing optimism regarding the agri enterpreneurship bright future in Kargil.
He said that he will have a separate meeting to discuss and explore all the possibilities. Adding he said the remaining demands will be fulfilled through following the due procedure.
While addressing the concerns raised by Councillor Sajjad Khan, the CEC was informed about various demands from his constituency, including the creation of a CBSE examination centre, establishment of new Anganwadi centres, creation of new panchayat halqas and polling stations, auxiliary sheep centres, deployment of veterinary doctors, and construction of an additional building for MPHS High School. In response, the CEC informed that a proposal for the new polling station has already been sent to the higher authorities and is currently awaiting approval from the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
Regarding the construction of a new school building as per CBSE norms, he said that land must first be identified, after which a proposal would be submitted under the Samagra scheme.
He further assured that funds for the additional school building will be earmarked in the CAPEX budget.
On the matter of creating new posts, he acknowledged the challenges that have arisen following the formation of the Union Territory and assured that these issues will be resolved after streamlining the administrative structure.
At Trespone, the locals presented a number of grievances including the establishment of a BMO Office, creation of various posts in the hospital, appointment of a science teacher, construction of a girls’ higher secondary school, establishment of an animal breeding centre, and the creation of a tailoring centre.
Responding to these concerns, the CEC stated that the recommendation for establishing a BMO Office has already been sent to the UT Administration and is currently awaiting clearance from the Finance Department.
He directed the Chief Education Officer of Kargil to immediately look into the matter regarding the appointment of a science teacher.
He also assured that a proposal for the girls’ school will be submitted.
Furthermore, he instructed the concerned officer from the Forest Department to prepare a proposal for converting the local forest field into a community park and forward it to the higher authorities for approval. Additionally, the Block Development Officer was directed to ensure that the garbage collection vehicle operates twice a week.
The CEC assured the public that all other demands raised during the interaction would also be fulfilled as per availability of resources and administrative planning.
Councillor Syed Ali Mosavi from Gond Mangalpore and Tambis raised several pressing concerns from his constituency.
These included the reconstruction and repair of the main canal in Gond Mangalpore, sanctioning of funds for the Government Maternal and Child Care Centre, and the allocation of funds for the development of a community graveyard and a community hall in Shakhok, Gound Mangalpore. In response, the CEC assured all possible support and promised that every effort will be made to secure funding and ensure the timely execution of these important projects.
Meanwhile, during his visit to Chaychaythang, locals brought forward several issues, such as the need for a motorable bridge instead of the existing footbridge, completion of the lift irrigation project, construction of a protection wall in landslide-prone areas, and funding for the purchase of sports equipment.
The CEC assured the public that all demands will be addressed in the near future. For the immediate need of sports-related resources, he announced ₹2 lakh from his untied budget and also committed to arranging the installation of a submersible water pump at the earliest possible.DD
