Srinagar,(DD):In a major relief to thousands of domestic electricity consumers, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has extended the ongoing Amnesty Scheme till March 31, 2026, allowing more time for households to clear their pending electricity bills.

The Power Development Department, in a fresh order, confirmed that the scheme’s extension will follow the same guidelines as notified in the previous orders—No. 103-PDD of 2022 dated 12-09-2022 and No. 47-JKPDD of 2024 dated 15-03-2024.

Importantly, the government has reiterated that the 100% waiver on interest and surcharge will be applicable only on arrears accumulated up to March 31, 2025.

Officials clarified that this will be the final extension, and no further relief will be considered after the new deadline.

The Amnesty Scheme has been a crucial step in helping domestic consumers manage their electricity liabilities, encouraging timely payments while easing financial stress on low and middle-income households.(DD)
