Diplomat Correspondent

New Delhi:DD, The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for admissions to its wide range of academic programmes for the July 2025 admission cycle till 15 August 2025.

The extension applies to over 30 study centres across Kashmir Division and the Union Territory of Ladakh, providing prospective learners additional time to complete their admission formalities.

Applicants can access the admission portal through the University’s official website www.ignou.ac.in or directly via https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/. IGNOU offers admission to various undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, postgraduate diploma, certificate and online learning programmes in distance education mode.

Regional Director Dr. A.H. Rizvi highlighted the University’s dedication to providing quality, accessible, and flexible educational opportunities to learners across Kashmir and Ladakh.

He emphasized that this extension has been granted in response to requests from stakeholders to ensure that potential learners, who were unable to complete their admission formalities earlier, are accommodated.

IGNOU has recently introduced around 60 new programmes, including Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP) in Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Social Work, Philosophy, Biochemistry, and Facilities and Service Management. Newly launched postgraduate programmes include M.Sc. Geography, Geo-Informatics, Applied Statistics, Renewable Energy, and others.

Dr. Rizvi further cautioned prospective applicants against fraudulent calls or messages requesting fee payments via QR codes, WhatsApp, or social media platforms.

He reiterated that IGNOU accepts payments only through its official admission portal and no other medium.

He also informed all enrolled IGNOU learners that the last date for re-registration for the July 2025 session has similarly been extended till 15 August 2025 for all programmes offered in both ODL and Online mode.

The students are advised to re-register for their second or third year programmes well in advance to avoid last-minute delays.DD
