Srinagar, (DD): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, V. K. Bhiduri, has extended an open invitation to the general public to attend the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, announcing that government-issued ID cards will be treated as entry passes for the event.

He urged citizens to arrive well in advance to avoid last-minute rush, noting that entry gates will be opened early to facilitate smooth movement of participants.

Highlighting the elaborate security plan, Bhiduri said that a multi-layered security grid has been put in place, including deployment of additional police and paramilitary personnel, installation of CCTV surveillance, and establishment of multiple checkpoints for frisking and verification. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and emergency medical units will also be on standby to ensure public safety.

The Divisional Commissioner assured that traffic management plans have been drawn up to regulate vehicular movement and provide designated parking areas for attendees.

Earlier in the day, Bhiduri paid solemn tributes to the fallen soldiers at the Balidan Stambh in Lal Chowk, acknowledging their supreme sacrifice for the nation(DD)
