Uri, (DD): A soldier was martyred in a fierce gunfight with terrorists after the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of north Kashmir on Wednesday.
According to official sources, troops engaged the infiltrators in a brief but intense exchange of fire.
“During the operation, one of our soldiers made the supreme sacrifice while valiantly defending the nation,” the sources said.
The Army has launched a counter-infiltration and Border Action Team (BAT) operation in the area to track down the attackers. Search operations were still underway in the sector when reports last came in(DD)
