His Eminence Thiksey Rinpoche and CEC Leh Jointly Lay Foundation Stone for New Photang at Chuchot Shamma

Leh: DD, The foundation stone for the construction of a new Photang at Maney Khang, Chuchot Shamma, was laid today by the Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, under the blessings of His Eminence Padma, Thiksey Rinpochey Nawang Jamyang Chamba Stanzin.

The ceremony was attended by Chuchot Councillor, Mirza Hussain, President of Sherig Diskit Tsogspa Tundup Dorjey, Imran Khan, Executive Engineer (Construction Division, Leh), departmental engineers, Ama Tsogspa members, and villagers of Chuchot.

In his welcome address, Tundup Dorjey congratulated the community on achieving this long-cherished dream, expressing gratitude to His Eminence for his blessings, to the Hon’ble CEC for his continued support and financial sanction, and to Councillor Mirza Hussain for his personal involvement in the process and his impartial, inclusive approach to development.

His Eminence Padma Thiksey Rinpochey Nawang Jamyang Chamba Stanzin praised the initiative, emphasising that building a photang is only the first step, and that its preservation, self-improvement use, and the planned library’s effective utilisation are equally important.

He encouraged the inclusion of both scriptures and diverse literature to benefit younger generations, and urged unity, kindness, and respect for elders.

Councillor Mirza Hussain thanked the CEC for his guidance in completing numerous projects in Chuchot.

The CEC congratulated the community, thanked His Eminence for blessing the occasion, and commended Councillor Mirza Hussain’s dedication to Chuchot’s development, including his vision for tourism promotion, polo revival, and a world-class equestrian facility for women riders.

He assured full financial and administrative support for the Photang and related community welfare works.

The event concluded with a traditional archery competition.DD
