Indian Army Celebrates 79th Independence Day across J&K

Jammu: DD, The Indian Army celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour across various border regions of Pallanwala, Poonch and Rajouri, reaffirming its commitment to fostering unity, national pride and strong bonds with local communities.
In Pallanwala, the celebrations began with a Tiranga March through the border areas of Lower Kotmaira and Pallanwala. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag at the local Panchayat Ghar, followed by enthusiastic participation from 47 students, 11 teachers and 09 locals.


Jan Jagriti High School, Pallanwala and Gulbadan Higher Secondary School, Khour, also joined in the celebrations with 95 students, 39 teachers, and community members.
The distribution of Tricolour flags and sweets brought smiles to young faces, while the Sarpanch of Lower Pallanwala lauded the spirited participation.
A total of 31 Ex-Servicemen and 11 Army widows took part, adding to the pride and emotional significance of the occasion.
In Bafliaz, Poonch, the Indian Army organized the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign to deepen the emotional connect between citizens and the National Flag, transforming it into a personal symbol of pride for every household.
The event rekindled the flame of patriotism, reminding people of the struggles overcome and the promise of a brighter, united future.
The gesture was widely appreciated by the locals, especially as it reached remote areas with limited civil administration access, strengthening trust and goodwill between the Army and the AWAM.
In Dehri Ralyote, Rajouri, a grand celebration was held at Government Higher Secondary School with participation from 550 students, 50 teachers, and 25 villagers.
The programme began with a ceremonial flag hoisting, followed by a March Past and oath of unity. The students adorned with tri-colour wristbands and caps proudly waved the National Flag, while cultural performances and distribution of mementos created lasting memories. Teachers and dignitaries praised the Army’s dedication to inspiring the youth and reinforcing national integration.
In Ramban, a celebration was held at Government Middle School Dharmund with great zeal and enthusiasm in collaboration with the Indian Army, creating an atmosphere of pride, discipline, and unity.
The event commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by the chief guest, followed by the National Anthem sung in unison by students, teachers, and soldiers. The Tricolour fluttered high as the audience resonated with the spirit of freedom.
These celebrations across Jammu & Kashmir not only marked India’s 79th Independence Day but also showcased the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the bond between JAWAN and AWAM, instilling patriotism, and nurturing unity in the border regions of the nation.DD
