Three-tier security arrangements put in place for counting of votes in Udhampur: SSP Udhampur

Udhampur:TDD, The recently concluded assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district mark a significant milestone in the region’s political landscape.
The votes are scheduled to be counted on October 8, generating anticipation among the local populace.
These elections hold particular importance as they are the first to be held for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly since the abrogation of Article 370.
The last assembly elections in the region took place in 2014, making this a momentous occasion after a decade-long gap.
Since 2019, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have not had the opportunity to elect their own government.
However, the 2024 assembly elections have brought a sense of optimism and excitement to the region. All eyes are now on the upcoming vote count, as citizens eagerly await to see who will emerge victorious.
In Udhampur district, four counting centres have been established to Count Votes from four constituencies.
Two of these centres are located in the Government College for Boys, while the other two are in the Government Degree College for Women.
The stringent security measures have been implemented around these counting centres, with a three-tier security system in place.
The district administration and police force are committed to ensuring that the vote counting process is as smooth, peaceful, and transparent as the voting process itself.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure of Udhampur has provided a detailed overview of the comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming assembly election vote counting.
He said that the vote counting for four assembly constituencies in Udhampur district will take place on October 8th.
Two locations have been designated for the counting process – Government Degree College Boys and Government College for Women Udhampur.
SSP Nagpure explained that a three-tier security system has been implemented at the counting venues.
The first layer consists of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, the second layer comprises State Armed Police, while the third layer is manned by district police troops.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) level officers have been appointed to oversee the security arrangements at both strong rooms.
Special traffic arrangements have been made for the counting day. A 100-meter radius around both strong rooms and counting centres has been declared a “No Pedestrian Zone,” where no traffic will be allowed. Only those with proper identification cards will be permitted to enter the counting centres.
The SSP mentioned that a detailed traffic plan has been prepared for the day, which will be communicated to citizens soon to avoid any inconvenience.
Four counting centres have been established for each assembly constituency – two at Government Degree College Boys and two at Government College for women. The barricading process has been completed within a 100-meter radius of the counting centres and Strong Rooms. Parking arrangements have been made at nearby parking lots for civil officials, political party agents, and other staff.
SSP Amod assured that due to these extensive arrangements made by the district administration and police, the vote counting will be conducted peacefully, and citizens will not face any inconvenience.TDD
