JKBADC mourns Kishtwar and Kathua cloudburst victims

Diplomat Correspondent

Jammu: DD, The Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference (JKBADC), a registered organisation working for the welfare of border residents and tribal communities, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the recent cloudbursts at Kishtwar and Kathua.

Chairman of JKBADC and former Vice Chancellor, Dr. Shazad Ahmed Malik, remarked, “We are heartbroken at the suffering of the people. Our prayers are with the families who have lost their loved ones. In this hour of grief, we stand shoulder to shoulder with them.”

Dr. Shazad urged the government to ensure immediate medical care for the injured and fair compensation for the affected families. He noted that many victims have not only lost their homes but also their means of livelihood, and they require timely support to rebuild their lives.

He further stressed the importance of strengthening disaster management in Jammu and Kashmir. The cloudburst in Kishtwar once again highlights the vulnerability of hilly regions, while the tragedy in Kathua shows that even plain areas are not safe from such extreme events. He emphasized the urgent need for better preparedness, including early warning systems and specialized rescue units, so that future disasters can be managed more effectively.

JKBADC conveyed solidarity with the people of Kishtwar and Kathua.DD
