Machines engaged to re-open Margan Pass to send relief & medical aid to affected villages in Marwah-Warwan

Kishtwar:DD, More than 15 residential houses were fully damaged, and around 100 houses were partially damaged in remote villages of Marwah-Warwan that also washed away hundreds of kanals of agricultural land, following cloudbursts two days back in hilly District Kishtwar.


Although the authorities have ruled out the loss of life, they told Diplomat Digital that the cloud bursts have left 100 families helpless, and affected due to the loss to the personal and public properties in these areas of Kishtwar District which are inaccessible.
“To reopen the roads, and provide the immediate relief, the authorities have engaged men and machines at Margan Pass,” the official said.
They said that the operation to re-road is in full swing to send relief, and medical aid. So far, he said that they have engaged two machines to clear the road.
The officer said that the cloudburst has washed away roads, bridges, agricultural land, and houses. However, there was no loss to human life. He informed that the assessment of the losses is in progress and the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar is monitoring the situation.
Earlier, reports quoting locals claimed that 300 kanals of agricultural land with standing crops, live stocks, roads, and foot bridges have washed away in the twin cloudburst in Marwah-Warwan.
The recent incessant rainfall has left devastation across Jammu Division with loss to the human lives, damage to the public and private properties.
The Jammu-Pathankot and Jammu-Srinagar also suffered damage at several places following the flash floods, and incessant rainfall.
The authorities have advised people to avoid going out or traveling to hilly regions or highways without proper information from the authorities, till the inclement weather condition improves.
