Indian Army Rescues 50 Trapped People from Flooded areas of Akhnoor

AKHNOOR:DD, Responding swiftly to a distress call from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jourian, the Indian Army have launched flood relief operations in Akhnoor.
A team comprising 02 Officers, 03 JCOs and 20 Other Ranks rescued approximately 40–50 persons from 25–30 houses in village Indri, shifting them safely to the Government High School, Indri.


The relief column then proceeded to Village Chatriyal, where 35–40 more persons were rescued and shifted to the Government Hospital, Jourian.
On 27 August, the Army undertook further operations, including the clearance of a giant tree blocking the highway at Village Taroti, thereby restoring traffic movement. All rescued individuals were provided food, drinking water and medical assistance, with a water bowser deployed to ensure adequate supply.
The elderly persons received medical care from the Indian Army Medical Officer. The Army Aviation Unit also activated its helipad for casualty evacuation, conducting 5 sorties that rescued 13 trapped Army personnel.
All evacuees were given first aid, meals and shelter, while one seriously injured individual was immediately treated and later evacuated to MH Akhnoor.
Appreciating these humanitarian efforts, Mohan Lal Bhagat, MLA and Retd SSP, visited the Government Hospital, Jourian and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Commanding Officer and the Indian Army for their exemplary service in providing timely rescue, relief and medical care to flood-affected citizens.DD
