Major Pakistan Based Drone Dropping Syndicate Unearthed in Kathua

4 arrested, more arrests likely

KATHUA: DD, In a major blow to cross border drone dropping activity, police today arrested four person from J&K, and Punjab, who were running this syndicate.
Police said that on 29 / 07 / 25, an information on was received regarding a narcoc packet being drone dropped in village Chhan Tanda, Hiranagar near International Border.
Acting immediately, police and Border Security Force (BSF), approx 447 gram opium was recovered. Accordingly, a FIR 107 of 25 under 8/18/19 NDPS Act and 13 UAPA was registered at Police Station Hiranagar and investigation was taken up.


During course of investigation, with the help of local witnesses, two persons, whose roles, was to pick the drone consignment at IB and further to act as courier, so as to supply narcotics to drug trafficker, were arrested.
These persons have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh, son of Lt Baldev Singh, resident of Amritsar and Arshadeep Singh alias Raja, son of Paramjit Singh, resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab.
Both were employed in Ghagwal, Samba in NHAI project. This also led to recovery of 411 gm heroin, which these couriers had kept with themselves to say to supply it to trafficker in next opportunity.
Further with help of iden fiers as narrated by courier and by scanning the database of all drug peddlers in area of Samba and Kathua, receiver of heroin was also iden fied and arrested.
Another drug trafficker was arrested and he has been idenfied as Feroz Din alias Allu, son of Sahya, resident of Rajbagh, Kathua. He was in touch with Pak based drug smuggler. Further disclosure, led to arrest of drug kingpin/financier from Tarn Taran, Punjab.
He was also in touch with same Pak based smuggler and was responsible for sending the proceeds of narco cs to Pakistan via Hawala channel. Heroin and cash was recovered from both drug trafficker and drug kingpin.
During investigation, it was found that these accused were hardcore criminals and have already supplied above 30 kg of heroin which was drone dropped in Punjab and J&K, to drug peddlers, in adjoining districts.
They ran a sophiscated syndicate taking all precauons hence had been evading law enforcement now. Further investigation in the case is ongoing, more recovery and arrests in coming days is expected.
In separate case of Police Post Nagri-Kathua, police has acted sternly against drug peddling by arresnig 5 accused persons.
On July 1, 2025, police arrested two accused persons identified as Murad Ali, son of Shah Din, resident of Kathua and Bagh Hussain, son of Imam Hussain, resident of Kathua with cash and heroin.
A detailed investigation was carried out which led to the arrest of three more persons. Additionally, the police have also recovered 20 grams of heroin and cash from the arrested persons.
This stringent act on against drone dropping and drug trade comes in backdrop of property seizures of drug traffickers in Kathua. It shows relentless resolve of Kathua police to eradicate the menace of drug trafficking in District Kathua.
Police requests residents/citizens to come out and help Police to control the problem of narco cs which is severely affecting youth of this country.DD
