Leh:DD, Political activist Sajjad Hussain Kargili met the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh and highlighted a series of pressing public issues concerning connectivity, education, and employment.
During the meeting, Kargili reiterated the long-pending demand for the opening of the Drass–Gurez and Panikhar–Pahalgam roads, terming them vital for regional connectivity, trade expansion, and boosting tourism potential.
He further stressed the need for regular and transparent recruitment of both contractual and permanent faculty members in the University of Ladakh, pointing out that academic growth and quality education in the Union Territory hinge upon strengthening the higher education sector. He demandsd implementation of reservation policy in UoL and colleges.
On administrative matters, Kargili sought the promotion of eligible police personnel to address manpower shortages and enhance law enforcement efficiency.
The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues raised and assured that the concerns would be taken up for due consideration in the broader development framework of Ladakh.DD
