RAMBAN: DD, Atleast two dozen residential houses have developed cracks in 4 kms of stretch that has sunk in Tangar area of Ramban District, following recently held incessant rains.
No family has been shifted although the authorities have made a contingency plan in case of any urgency. The officials have claimed that 10 to 12 houses have mainly developed cracks.
The situation, as per the officials, is being monitored and all the measures have been taken for the safety of the residents in these “unsafe houses.”
Meanwhile, the local population has raised alarm about the safety of their family members in the recently developed cracks claiming that their homes have become unsafe to live in.
They have demanded that the administration should grant adequate compensation and rehabilitate them to the safer places before it is too late.

These houses developed cracks as land had sunk following the recent heavy rainfall that had affected normal life, and the Jammu-Srinagar Highway also remained closed for two weeks.DD
