Javed Rana chairs FDCL’s Board meeting in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, DD: Minister for Forests, Ecology & Environment, Javed Ahmed Rana today chaired the Board meeting of Forest Development Corporation Limited (FDCL) here today.

The Board, during the meeting held detailed deliberations on key administrative, financial and strategic matters concerning the Corporation’s operations and future trajectory.

During the course of the meeting, the Board approved the proposal to outsource human resources for FDCL in order to enhance operational efficiency and streamline workforce management.

The Balance Sheet for the financial year 2023–24 was also formally approved by Board after thorough review, reflecting the Corporation’s financial performance and progress over the past year.

In connection with SRO-43 cases, the Board agreed for adoption of the RAS and directed the Managing Director to submit a comprehensive analytical report outlining its potential impact and implementation framework.

Further, the addition of new members to the Board was given formal approval, with a view to bringing in fresh perspectives and expertise to support FDCL’s evolving role.

The Board also took significant strategic decision to diversify the functional scope of FDCL.

The Board agreed in principle to explore potential ventures in allied sectors such as ecotourism and creation of commercial assets under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. In this regard, the Managing Director was tasked to prepare and submit a detailed project report to assess viability and roadmap for execution.

To ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the Corporation, the Managing Director was also directed to proactively identify and develop revenue-generating avenues that would help stabilise and strengthen FDCL’s economic health.

Additionally, in order to protect the Corporation’s legal and financial interests, the Board directed the Managing Director to pursue all pending court cases with renewed focus and urgency.

The Board emphasised on shared commitment towards repositioning FDCL as a dynamic, self-sustaining public sector entity, aligned with the broader goals of sustainable forest management, ecological conservation and economic development.DD
