Jammu: DD, In its sustained campaign against drug trafficking and in order to dismantle the narcotics network operating in Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu Police, south zone, has achieved a major success by apprehending a drug peddler with contraband heroin and other incriminating items.
On the directions and under the close supervision SP South; SDPO South, Sunil Jasrotia, and SHO Police Station Gangyal, Inspector Sanjeev Chib a special naka was established at Purmandal Morh by Naka Incharge PSI Atta-ur/Rehman along with the flying team of Police Station Gangyal.
During checking, a suspicious person was intercepted who initially tried to evade police questioning.
Upon sustained interrogation, he disclosed his identity as Shamsher Khan, son of Fareed Khan, resident of Kalyanpur, Teh- Marh, District Jammu.
During his personal search, police recovered heroin-like substance (chitta) weighing about 50 grams from his possession.
On further search, police also recovered cash amounting to ₹ 50,000, one weighing machine, and a mobile phone, all believed to be linked with his illicit narcotics trade.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 101/2025 U/S 8/21/22/27(a) NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal.
The accused has been arrested and taken into custody.
Further investigation is underway to unearth his backward and forward linkages and to expose the larger network involved in this illegal trade.
The recovery and arrest demonstrate the firm resolve of Jammu Police to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.
The NDPS Act provides for stringent punishment for those found indulging in possession, trafficking, or peddling of narcotics, and Jammu Police is committed to ensuring that offenders face the full force of law.
