Poonch, DD, In a major success against drug peddling, Poonch Police today arrested a lady drug peddler and recovered a large quantity of banned psychotropic substances from her possession.
Acting on specific information, a special naka was laid at Jogi Morh, Surankote. During checking, one lady carrying a black coloured polythene bag was intercepted. On frisking, 35 strips (350 tablets) of banned drugs Tramadol/Tapentadol were recovered from her possession.
The accused has been identified as Shamim Akhter W/o Mohd Qasim R/o Marhote, Surankote. She was immediately taken into custody and an FIR No. 218/2025 under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Surankote.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused is a habitual drug peddler. Efforts are underway to establish backward and forward linkages, and more arrests in the case are likely.DD
