Special Gram Sabhas approve Village Action Plans for 44 Tribal Villages

Diplomat Correspondent

REASI, DD: In a significant step towards strengthening grassroots governance and empowering tribal communities, the District Administration Reasi under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik, today organised Special Gram Sabhas at 44 tribal villages across 9 blocks of the District.

Each Gram Sabha discussed, finalized, and formally approved Village Action Plan as part of the ongoing Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan. The initiative also witnessed the institutionalization of the Tribal Village Vision Plan 2030 Declaration, where communities themselves adopted the long-term vision for holistic tribal development.

The Special Gram Sabhas were attended by Block-level Master Trainers, Village-level Master Trainers, and representatives from key line departments including Education, Health, Forest, Jal Shakti and Rural Development Department (RDD).

As part of the Abhiyan, activities such as transect walks and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercises were undertaken, creating a platform for meaningful dialogue with the tribal populace. These exercises enabled direct participation of community members in decision-making and ensured that the Village Action Plans were reflective of the real priorities and aspirations of the people.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik said, ”This initiative under the aegis of Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan represents a significant step towards the upliftment and empowerment of tribal communities. By involving people directly in the planning process, we are promoting inclusive growth, fostering participatory development and strengthening grassroots governance in Reasi. The Village Vision 2030 will serve as a roadmap to ensure that interventions are sustainable, community-driven and aligned with the aspirations of our tribal population.”

The Special Gram Sabhas mark a milestone in ensuring that tribal development is not only government-led but also community-owned, setting the foundation for an inclusive and self-reliant future for Reasi’s tribal villages.DD
