DC Rajouri reviews safety measures amid adverse weather forecast

Stresses on readiness of essential services, amenities

RAJOURI, DD: In view of the adverse weather forecast, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting to review preparedness measures and ensure the safety and well-being of the people, particularly those residing in snow-bound and far-flung areas.

The Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of high altitude roads in Budhal and Thanamandi, with special focus on roads providing connectivity to Army posts, and directed the concerned authorities to remain alert and ensure timely clearance of snow and restoration of connectivity. He further instructed the officers to disseminate messages among the tribal population in the upper reaches regarding the weather situation.

Reviewing the power supply scenario, the DC directed the Power Department to take adequate measures for uninterrupted electricity supply to vulnerable areas. He asked the department to provide protective gear to field staff for their safety. He emphasized on identifying gaps at the ground level and staying fully prepared to address any emergency.

The Sheep Husbandry Department was instructed to spread awareness in local languages so that herders can easily report about emergency situation and seek help in case of any eventuality. The Education Department was directed to conduct safety audits of all Government schools, as also ensure similar audits are carried out in private institutions.

The DC also reviewed the preparedness of SDRF and directed the department to conduct drills to ensure readiness for any exigency. The Health Department was instructed to strengthen Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in far-flung areas to meet healthcare needs during adverse weather conditions.

The meeting was attended by ADC Chander Prakash; ACR Mohammad Jahangir Khan; SE Tilak Raj; CPO Maqsood Ahmed; DySP Satish Kumar; Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Ex. En PDD, Ex. En PHE, Deputy Controller SDRF and other district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.

Additionally, ADC Kalakote Tanvir Ahmed, ADC Kotranka Dilmir Choudhary, ADC Nowshera Pritam Lal Thapa and ADC Sunderbani Ramkesh Sharma participated in the meeting virtually.DD
