Empowering Youth through Sports: Indian Army launches Girls Archery & Shooting competition in Doda

DODA, DD, In a powerful stride toward youth empowerment and community engagement, the Indian Army’s 10 Rashtriya Rifles inaugurated a Girls Archery and Shooting Competition today at Doda under the banner of Operation Sadbhavana. The initiative aims to foster sportsmanship, discipline and confidence among young girls and boys in the region, while strengthening the bond between the Army and local communities.

The opening ceremony was graced by Sub Major Chain Singh, the International Shooter and Olympian. His presence inspired the young participants and added prestige to the event. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm, pride and a shared commitment to nurturing future champions.

A total of 25 girls and 27 boys showcased their talent and determination in the 10-meter Air Rifle shooting events.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sub Major Chain Singh emphasized the transformative power of sports in shaping character and building unity. He lauded the Indian Army’s 10 Rashtriya Rifles for creating inclusive platforms for youth development, especially for girls in remote areas.

Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh also attended the event and appreciated the Army’s efforts, thanking the 10 Rashtriya Rifles for this remarkable initiative.

This competition is part of the broader vision under Operation Sadbhavana to promote peace, progress and participation through constructive engagement. The Indian Army remains committed to uplifting local talent and providing opportunities that resonate with cultural pride and national spirit.DD
