Srinagar Police Raid Multiple Locations in Crackdown on JeI, Hurriyat Links

Searches target houses of alleged associates, literature and photos seized

Srinagar: DD, Srinagar Police on Monday carried out simultaneous search operations at several locations linked to individuals alleged to be associated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and Hurriyat Conference.

Police spokesperson in a statement issued here reads, Srinagar Police today conducted coordinated search operations at multiple locations linked to individuals allegedly associated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and Hurriyat Conference.

Searches were carried out at the residences of the following individuals, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat @ Goga Shahib @ Mushtaqul Islam, son of Gh. Qadir Bhat, resident of Kashi Mohalla, Batamaloo. Ashraf Sehrai, son of Mohd. Shumasdin, resident of Baghat. Mehrajuddin Kalwal @ Raj Kalwal, son of Mohammad Amin Kalwal, resident of Rainawari Kalwal Mohalla, A/P Hamza Colony, Kenihama (presently in NIA custody) and Zameer Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, resident of Gulshan Nagar, Nowgam.

The searches were conducted strictly in accordance with legal procedures. During the operations, various materials including literature and photographs allegedly linked to banned separatist outfits were seized, it reads.

These actions form part of a broader campaign aimed at dismantling the terror and separatist ecosystem in the Valley by targeting its support structures and networks, it reads.

Srinagar Police reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and public order, asserting that action will continue against individuals and groups found involved in unlawful or anti-national activities, reads the statement. (KNC)
