Bandipora: DD, The Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Bandipora, has ordered a complete ban on the sale of tobacco products within 100 meters of all educational institutions under its jurisdiction, in accordance with the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.
The order aims to protect the health of students and prevent the initiation of tobacco use among the youth.
The directive prohibits the sale, storage, or offering of tobacco products within the restricted 100-meter radius of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions. All shopkeepers and vendors operating in these areas have been directed to cease such sales immediately.
The D.O. Ajas has been tasked with enforcing the order and taking strict legal action against violators under the provisions of the COTPA Act, 2003.
Educational institutions and residents have also been urged to report any violations to the nearest police station or the office of the Executive Magistrate.
The order, issued in the interest of public health and student welfare, will remain in force until further instructions. (KNC)
