New Delhi:DD, A 20-year-old woman sustained acid burn injuries after being attacked near Lakshmibai College in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area on Sunday morning, police said.
According to reports news agency Kashmir News Corner KNC that Delhi Police a call was received from Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital regarding the admission of the victim, who is a second-year (non-college) student. The woman told police that while she was walking towards the college, her acquaintance Jitender, a resident of Mukundpur, along with his associates Ishan and Arman, arrived on a motorcycle. Ishan allegedly handed over a bottle to Arman, who then threw acid on her.
The victim reportedly tried to protect her face but sustained burn injuries on both hands. The accused fled from the spot after the attack.
Police said the woman revealed that Jitender had been stalking her, and a heated argument had taken place between them about a month ago. The Crime Team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team inspected the scene.
Based on her statement and the nature of injuries, a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered. An investigation is underway, officials added.—(KNC)
