Srinagar:DD, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Monday called upon legislators in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to give immediate attention to the long-pending issue of daily wagers, terming it a matter of dignity and justice.

In a post on X, Mehbooba, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner wrote, “As the J&K Assembly reconvenes, one of the most pressing issues that requires immediate attention is the plight of nearly one lakh daily wagers. These workers, often from the most marginalized sections of society, have been the backbone of many government departments, ensuring their smooth functioning.”

She emphasized the need for a collective effort by all political representatives to resolve the matter. “It is crucial that all MLAs, along with the ruling party, unite to address this issue and ensure the regularization of these workers, so they can receive the dignity and job security they rightfully deserve,” she added.

The issue of daily wagers has been a recurring demand in Jammu and Kashmir, with thousands of workers in PHE, PDD, and other departments seeking regularization and fair wages for years. (KNC)
