NC MLA Ahsan Pardesi Calls for Urgent Flood Preparedness in Lal Chowk

Srinagar: DD, National Conference’s Lal Chowk MLA, Ahsan Pardesi, on Tuesday raised a crucial question in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly regarding flood preparedness and mitigation measures in vulnerable areas of his constituency.

Addressing the House, Pardesi a sper news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, sought detailed information on steps taken by the administration to strengthen embankments, improve drainage systems, and prevent inundation in low-lying areas.

“It is imperative to adopt a scientific and preventive approach to protect lives and property, particularly in areas repeatedly affected by heavy rains,” he said.

The MLA also highlighted the need for a comprehensive Flood Plain Zoning Policy to regulate construction in flood-prone areas and ensure long-term resilience in Srinagar city. He urged the government to prioritize flood management planning and take immediate action to safeguard residents. (KNC)
