DC Kishtwar visits cloudburst-affected Chasoti –Paddar

Reviews restoration works, listens to public grievances

KISHTWAR, DD: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma today visited the cloudburst-affected Chasoti area of Paddar to assess the ongoing developmental and restoration works being executed after the devastating cloudburst that struck the village on August 14, 2025.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected the affected sites to review the progress of restoration and rehabilitation activities.
He took detailed stock of measures being implemented to restore essential services and ensure relief to the affected families.
The DC also inspected partially damaged houses, for which Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir is going to perform Shilanyas (foundation stone laying) in the coming days.
He interacted with local residents and listened to their grievances related to housing, water supply and electricity. The DC issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned departments for immediate redressal of issues raised by the public.
The DC informed that the District Administration has ensured ration supplies to all affected households up to December and assured that additional stock would be provided soon.
Emphasizing the need for swift restoration, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Jal Shakti Department to immediately restore the damaged water channel and increase the number of water connections to meet the needs of the local population. Similarly, the Irrigation & Flood Control Department was instructed to start restoration work on the damaged canal from tomorrow.
Referring to the preparedness for the upcoming winter season, the DC stated that all necessary arrangements have been completed, and helpline numbers of the District Administration, Police and SDM offices have been made available for any assistance required by citizens.


Furthermore, the DC directed the Animal Husbandry Department to organize veterinary camps from tomorrow to provide vaccination, treatment and health care support for livestock in the affected areas.
The DC was accompanied by SSP Naresh Singh; SDM Paddar Dr. Amit Kumar; Tehsildar Paddar, Vijay Gupta; ExEn PMGSY Kishtwar Rajesh Sharma along with other Senior Officers and Concerned Staff.DD
