IGP Kashmir V.K Birdi Chairs Meeting to Review Security, Traffic Arrangements for Darbar Move

Srinagar,DD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi (IPS), on Friday chaired a high-level meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to review and finalize the security and traffic arrangements for the smooth conduct of the annual Darbar Move from Srinagar to Jammu.

The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Traffic Police, Security Wing, intelligence agencies, and other allied departments, including IGP Security J&K, IGP Traffic/Railways J&K, IG BSF Frontier Headquarters, and IG CRPF Kashmir Operations Sector, among others.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various aspects of the movement, including convoy security, route regulation, deployment of personnel, and coordination between district police units and traffic authorities.

The IGP Kashmir emphasized the need for comprehensive area domination along the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway to ensure the safe and uninterrupted passage of official vehicles and convoys.
He directed officers to enhance patrolling, establish checkpoints (nakas), intensify night checking, and strengthen quick response teams, particularly in the Qazigund, Banihal, Ramban, and Udhampur sectors.

Birdi also reviewed security arrangements at railway stations across the Valley and instructed officers to ensure heightened surveillance, thorough checking of passenger areas, and close coordination with the Railway Police to safeguard officials and their belongings during transit.

He further stressed on seamless inter-agency coordination, timely dissemination of movement schedules, and measures to minimize public inconvenience.

Appreciating the coordinated efforts of all units involved, the IGP urged officers to maintain high alertness and synergy to ensure that the Darbar Move is carried out in a safe, smooth, and well-organized manner.—(KNC)
