Jammu: DD, Jammu (Rural) Police have cracked a theft case reported from Durga Nagar, Chinore within a short span of time and arrested one accused involved in the crime.
Police said that on October 16, 2025, a theft took place at a house in Durga Nagar where the thief entered by breaking the window air conditioner and decamped with cash and ornaments.
In this connection, FIR No. 222 of 2025 under sections 331(3)/305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Domana.
Acting swiftly, the police team from Police Post Chinore led by IC PP Chinore, PSI Arjun Singh visited the spot, preserved the scene of crime, and thoroughly examined CCTV footage from nearby areas. The team was able to identify the probable route taken by the accused during the commission of the crime.
During investigation, the police apprehended Deepak Kumar, son of Manga Ram, resident of Kalka Colony, Babe, presently residing at Bhagad Mandi, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
On his disclosure, police recovered ₹ 4, 84, 000 in cash, two gold rings, and one gents’ bracelet weighing around 2.5 tolas from his residence.
Police said that during sustained questioning, the accused confessed his involvement in the Durga Nagar theft and several other theft incidents across different areas of District Jammu.
Further investigation is going on, and more recoveries are expected, police added.DD
