Educational Disparity: Three Students, Two Teachers

Waste of Resources in J&K’s Udhampur, ZEO Assures Action

Udhampur :TDD, A stark contrast in educational facilities has emerged in Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the disparity in access to quality education. While many government schools in the region struggle with a severe shortage of teachers and an overwhelming number of students, a unique case has come to light in the remote Guddar area.

A government primary school in Upper Guddar village has only three pre-primary students enrolled but is staffed with two full-time government teachers. This peculiar staffing issue has raised questions about the efficiency and allocation of resources within the J&K education system.

Critics argue that such overstaffing in a school with minimal enrollment is a clear waste of taxpayer money. A teacher at the school revealed that student enrollment has significantly decreased compared to the previous year as Previous Year we have Proper Number of Students but this Year only three yet the school continues to have two teachers assigned to it.

The Zonal Education Officer of Jib Zone Udhampur, Suram Chand, attributed this anomaly to a temporary freeze on teacher transfers, assuring that excess teachers will be reassigned once the transfer process resumes he also assured as Per the Directions of higher ups we will clubbed said School with other Government School with in the Radius of 1 KM.

He also added that we take up this issue with our Chief Education officer so that Problem would be Resolved Soon.TDD
