Jammu:DD, In a decisive move to tackle the growing problem of litter and uncleanliness across the city, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has announced the launch of the “Wall of Shame” initiative—an effort aimed at discouraging individuals from spreading filth in public places.
Despite continuous efforts by the Municipal Corporation to maintain cleanliness and properly dispose of waste, garbage dumping in open areas remains a widespread issue.
The Corporation regularly conducts awareness programs involving schoolchildren, college and university students, various government departments, and social organizations.
However, cooperation from certain sections of society continues to fall short, leading to the accumulation of garbage in numerous localities.
To review the situation on the ground, Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, personally conducted inspections at various locations.
During his visit, he appealed to residents to refrain from littering and to support the Corporation’s efforts in keeping the city clean.
Highlighting the lack of awareness among certain individuals regarding the city’s sanitation system, Commissioner Dr. Yadav has issued strict instructions to sanitation officials.
He directed them to capture photos and videos of anyone seen throwing garbage in the open or engaging in open defecation. These visuals will be displayed prominently on the Wall of Shame to make citizens aware of the consequences of irresponsible behavior and to encourage others to maintain cleanliness.
The Wall of Shame will publicly display images of those violating cleanliness norms, sending a strong message across the city. The Commissioner also warned that strict action will be taken against individuals polluting water sources by dumping waste.
Dr. Yadav emphasized that the time for leniency is over. The Municipal Corporation is fully prepared to take firm steps to ensure a clean and hygienic Jammu. Those who choose to ignore cleanliness norms will face strict consequences.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation urges all residents to join hands in this mission and contribute to making Jammu a cleaner, healthier, and more responsible city,DD
