JMC Commissioner Visits Churches, Promises Swift Action on Civic Grievances

Jammu:DD, In preparation for the upcoming Christmas festivities and to strengthen civic infrastructure across the city, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav on Monday undertook an extensive field visit to several churches and adjoining neighbourhoods, including Prem Nagar, Christian Colony, Dogra Hall, Bakshi Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Valmiki Colony and other residential pockets.

During the visit, Dr. Yadav interacted with local residents, community leaders and church representatives to assess the availability of essential public services and understand on-ground challenges. People raised multiple civic concerns, particularly damaged internal roads, choked and overflowing drains, dysfunctional streetlights, unattended garbage spots, sewerage blockages, and irregular maintenance of civic infrastructure.

Taking note of the issues, Dr. Yadav directed the concerned wings of JMC to immediately begin repair, sanitation and restoration works. He assured residents that all identified gaps—ranging from civil works and electrical repairs to sanitation improvements—would be addressed on priority. He further committed that visible improvements would be completed within the next month, ensuring enhanced facilities before Christmas celebrations on December 25.

“Providing equitable civic amenities to every neighbourhood is our responsibility. Community participation and timely feedback help us strengthen service delivery and build a more inclusive city,” Dr. Yadav said, urging residents to continue reporting civic issues through official JMC grievance platforms.

The Commissioner also emphasized intensified sanitation drives, improved waste collection, enhanced lighting in public spaces, and streamlined maintenance schedules to ensure safer and cleaner surroundings during the festive season.

Joint Commissioner (Health & Sanitation) Abdul Sattar, Executive Engineer (Electric) Simarpal Singh, Executive Engineer Akhil Dutt, Chief Transport Officer Zone I Ranjan Sharma, Chief Transport Officer Zone II Dharamveer Singh, and other senior officials accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.DD
