Jammu, Dec. 6: A Pramukh Jan Goshthi (Prominent Citizens’ Meet) was held at the Convention Hall, Canal Road, Jammu, as part of the centenary celebration of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The event focused on the theme: “100 years journey of RSS and the vision for future,” highlighting the organisation’s work over the past century and its roadmap ahead.

Mananiya Sarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosbale delivered the keynote address as the chief speaker. Chief Justice (Retd.) of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, Tashi Rabstan, attended the event as chief guest. Prant Sanghchalak Dr. Gautam Mengi and Vibhag Sanghchalak Surinder Mohan were also present on the dais.

More than 500 people, including swayamsevaks, intellectuals, academicians, professionals, social workers, and representatives from various fields, attended the programme.

The event began with the reception of guests and their formal seating. After dignitaries took their places, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Bharat Mata, setting a tone of patriotism and reverence.

Organisers then introduced the dignitaries and outlined the purpose of the gathering, noting that the RSS centenary marks a moment to reflect on its contributions and future vision.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice (Retd.) Tashi Rabstan highlighted the RSS’s role in promoting social harmony, national unity, and civic responsibility.

Following his remarks, Dattatreya Hosbale addressed the audience with a comprehensive lecture titled “Sangh ki 100 Varsh ki Yatra aur Bhavishya ki Disha.” He revisited the circumstances under which Dr. K.B. Hedgewar founded the RSS and traced its gradual expansion across the country.

Hosbale underscored how the organisation has worked at the grassroots for a century through daily shakhas, service activities, educational initiatives, and social reforms. He reiterated that the Sangh’s core objective has always been to build a confident, united, and culturally rooted nation.

He further highlighted the silent contribution of swayamsevaks in various sectors while upholding the values of discipline, character-building, and selfless service.

Looking ahead, he emphasised the need to engage more youth in constructive social work, strengthen social harmony, eliminate discrimination, protect the environment, and reinforce family and community bonds. He stressed that every citizen has a role in nation-building.

Hosbale urged participants to view the centenary not as a conclusion, but as a milestone in a much larger national journey.

The programme concluded with the singing of Vande Mataram, followed by refreshments.

Participants left with a renewed commitment to the organisation’s goals of national unity, social service, and cultural values.
