Amit terms Digital Census 2027 as a ‘game changer’ for Bharat in Deloitte Arohana 2025 Summit

New Delhi, Amit Sharma, IAS, Director Census Operations (DCO) & Director Citizen Registration (DCR), Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs for the UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, termed upcoming Digital Census 2027 to be the real ‘game changer’ for the nation during an important national event namely, Arohana 2025 – Growth with Impact, Government Summit organized by Deloitte in New Delhi over last two days.

DCO/DCR Government of India, MHA for J&K and Ladakh Amit Sharma had been invited as a subject-specialist and a keynote speaker to lead a highly powered panel discussion around the theme of “India’s First Digital Census: Redefining Data for a New Bharat”. The other key speakers who spoke on the subject alongwith Amit Sharma were Neeta Verma, Former IT Consultant, Election Commission of India and Sudeepta.K, Chief Innovation Officer, Delloite South Asia, who also happened to moderated this talk.

Amit Sharma, being the prime contributor in the talk, mentioned that Government of India shall be conducting its first-ever Paperless Digital Census since its inception in India, which shall be backed by innovation & technology and it shall have a far reaching impact upon the Indian economy, demography, politics and even the exports and imports happening in the nation.

Amit Sharma shared during this National Summit that maiden Digital Census shall help in fast processing of information, primarily based out of Artificial Intelligence tools and automatic updating of data through an application developed for both Android and iOS platforms, which shall help in faster and efficient policy making, corporate decisions, global economy boosting, etc. He also shared that the Data Centres of Office of Registrar General of India set-up in different geographical locations like Bangaluru, Lucknow and Delhi are fully geared-up for this humongous data processing, after successful culmination of both the rounds of HLO and PE.

Amit Sharma during his address, also shared a unique novel initiative of upcoming Digital Census which is ‘Self Enumeration’ which simply means that public shall be given the facility of filling-up their information directly through the requisite application made for it, which shall be verified during the visit of enumerators and supervisors at their respective households.

Before culmination of this all power-packed session, Amit Sharma requested the august gathering to become their messengers and supporters in successful conduct of Census 2027 thereby sharing that a big nationwide publicity campaign with star appeal and wide scale usage of social media tools like reels, short demo videos, etc is also on the cards for creating mass awareness about this huge critically important Census in the nation which shall take place after a gap of more than one and half decades.

The organisers from Delloite South Asia expressed their deep gratitude while honoured Director Census Operations J&K and Ladakh Amit Sharma, for giving an elaborate impactful presentation about multiple aspects of upcoming first Digital Census 2027 in a straight manner which made this subject very interesting for the gathering attending Arohana 2025 organised here in the national capital.DD
