Udhampur :- In a display of devotion and cultural connection, Jammu and Kashmir’s Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, made a significant visit to Jammu, marking his arrival with a spiritual pilgrimage to the revered Bawe Wali Mata Maha Kali temple. The temple, known for its spiritual significance in the region, witnessed the senior political figure paying his respects and seeking blessings.
Sources close to the Deputy CM revealed that this isn’t Choudhary’s first visit to the sacred site. Prior to the 2024 Assembly elections, he had sought the divine mother’s blessings, a move that seems to have paid off given his subsequent political success.
Choudhary’s political journey has been noteworthy. In the 2024 elections for the Nowshera constituency in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, he emerged victorious, defeating Ravinder Raina, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This triumph paved the way for his appointment as Deputy Chief Minister in Omar Abdullah’s government, signifying a significant shift in the region’s political landscape.
The Deputy CM’s visit to Jammu began late last night, with his first port of call being the Bawe Wali Mata Mahakali temple. This gesture underscores the intricate relationship between politics and faith in the region, where seeking divine blessings before undertaking significant responsibilities is a common practice among leaders.
Choudhary’s visit to the temple immediately upon arriving in Jammu sends a strong message about his priorities and his connection to local traditions. It also highlights the continued importance of cultural and religious landmarks in the political narrative of Jammu and Kashmir.
