Kishtwar, J&K: Shahan Sajjad Kichloo, senior youth leader of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has called for complete transparency in the hiring and contracting processes of all major power projects in Kishtwar.
Highlighting public concerns, Kichloo urged the management of projects such as Pakal Dul, Kiru, Kwar, and Ratle to disclose how employees were recruited and which subcontractors were awarded work by the main companies.
He stressed that these details should be placed in the public domain to ensure accountability.
“These projects involve large companies and joint ventures, including NHPC Limited and Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPPL), which often sublet work to various subcontractors,” he said.
He further said that the local communities have the right to know how jobs and contracts are distributed. Transparency is essential to prevent political targeting and to safeguard local interests.
He noted that many of these projects previously operated under significant influence from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and warned that any attempt to politicize project management could harm local employment and development initiatives.
He called upon all authorities, companies, and subcontractors involved to adopt clear and open processes and make relevant information publicly accessible, ensuring fairness and accountability for the people of Kishtwar.DD
