Kishtwar, As part of National Road Safety Month 2026 and in an effort to promote road safety awareness, under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma JKAS and Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan JKAS, and following their directions, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), Kishtwar, led by ARTO Kishtwar Tasleem Wani JKAS, conducted a Road Safety Awareness Programme at Paradise Skill Development Centre, Kishtwar.
The programme aimed at creating awareness among students about traffic rules and regulations.
ARTO Kishtwar delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the importance of safe road behaviour, discouraging underage driving, encouraging the use of protective gear, and sensitising students about their role as responsible citizens and Good Samaritans in ensuring road safety. Data on road accidents in Kishtwar district, as per the iRAD report for the previous three years—2023, 2024, and 2025—was also shared with the participants to highlight accident trends and the importance of road safety.
To encourage active participation and reinforce learning, a Road Safety Quiz was also organised during the programme. Students enthusiastically took part in the quiz, demonstrating keen interest and awareness regarding road safety norms. The first five winners of the Road Safety Quiz were felicitated and awarded prizes in recognition of their outstanding participation.
The initiative was well received by the staff and students of the institute and reaffirmed MVD Kishtwar’s commitment to fostering a culture of road safety among young citizens. Dr. Touseef Tarak, MVI Robin Parihar, Nouman Ahmed, Tr. Amit Rathore, and more than 70 students of 10th, 11th, and 12th class participated in the programme.DD
